Hmm, oh dear, wonder if she's sinful?

And shot by a sniper? During baseball? WTF?

  2. Yes, this was incredible news. Strange thing is, there has been no follow up by the media or the Hong Kong government in to this incident.

Compare this to the Manila bus massacre where the media and the Hong Kong government hounded the Philippine authorities for months for every little detail that occurred.

Apparently, the media and Hong Kong government believe it is OK for little Sinney to be shot at whilst visiting Venezuela, whereas it is an outrage when other Hongkies are shot at when visiting the Philippines. Perhaps there are strong ties between Hong Kong and Venezuela relative to the Philippines?

I wonder if there was a directive from the mainland. Venezuela just happens to have lots of oil, and I am sure that the CCP wants to snuggle up to Chavez, and I think he'd be upset about attention to shooting incidents during international sports tournaments.

Poor Sinney, I hope the government at least paid all her medical and rehab bills, and didn't just "forget" about her.

I guess source of oil > source of maids!!

  4. Perhaps a directive from the mainland ... OR just self-censorship. Government officials and the media are pretty good at second-guessing what the mainland wants. A huge shame, but self-censorship is ripe in Hong Kong.

I hope poor Sinney didn't get shafted, as she got wounded while representing the country/SAR. Hopefully Venezuela won't be hosting any more tournaments any time soon...

I wonder what is going to happen to HK when the CCP finally gets booted out and once things get sorted out... will HK be absorbed into the mainland proper, or will it (and Macau) still be small islands of "otherness" that Mainlanders are desperate to get into?
