The best Hong Kong brand-based name I've heard was Givenchy, an FCC waiter who later changed his name to Guts. (It's possible I've mentioned him before).
But God. Purina is dog food. Don't these people have Google? Don't they check?
Thanks Joyce. Yes, Givenchy appears to be the best brand-based name … so far! But technically Guts has withdrawn that name from public circulation, so I guess the title of “best brand-based name” remains open! Perhaps Purina should consider going more upscale? To be fair, many of the Novel Names in Hong Kong occurred before the advent of Google, plus I contend that that being more educated about “English and English culture” is inversely proportional to the frequency of novel names appearing in a society.
